NASA Aerospace Safety Advisory Panel: Annual Report for 2015
Joseph W. Dyer (fr)
The Aerospace Safety Advisory Panel (ASAP) was established by Congress in 1968 to provide advice and make recommendations to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) on safety matters. This 2015 Report highlights the issues and concerns that were identified or raised by ASAP during its activities in 2015. It notes many of NASAńˇ╗s accomplishments but is critical of NASAńˇ╗s safety protocols. This Report reflects a partial shift in ASAPńˇ╗s prime focus from commercial space programs to Exploration Systems Development (ESD), and discusses ESD-related risk and risk management. Even at this early stage, schedule pressures appear to be impacting safety. The Report also discusses the International Space Station (ISS), which celebrated its 15-year anniversary; and funding and safety issues. Figures. This is a print on demand report.
