Texas Gang Threat Assessment 2014: A State Intelligence Estimate
Texas Department of Public Safety (au)
This update of the previous Texas Gang Threat Assessment, released in April 2013, serves as the annual evaluation of the gang threat in Texas. The purpose is to identify and evaluate the threat posed by gangs and gang-related crime in Texas by examining several key aspects of gang activity. The first section offers an explanation of the criteria and factors used to assess the threat posed by an individual gang. The following sections examine law enforcement strategies, gang activity in various regions of the state, gang organizational issues, gang relationships, and an analysis of gang involvement in criminal activity. Finally, the report presents an outlook of gang activity in Texas. Gangs continue to represent a significant public safety threat to the State of Texas, and are responsible for a disproportionate amount of crime in communities. Mexican cartels continue to engage in business relationships with Texas gangs in order to smuggle drugs, people, weapons, and cash across the border. Figures. This is a print on demand report.
