The Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) is a multilateral treaty banning the development, production, stockpiling, and use of chemical arms. It was the culmination of a 70-year effort to ban chemical arms, which are widely considered indiscriminate and inhumane. The CWC was finally concluded on Sepember 3, 1992, and opened for signature at a ceremony in Paris on January 13, 1993.
