Average gas prices have increased by 46Œ¢ to $3.78 per gallon between the end of Dec. 2011 and the end of Feb. 2012. This is 20Œ¢ higher than the 2011 avg. gas price of $3.58 per gallon. In the first half of 2011, unrest in the Middle East and North Africa contributed to higher crude oil prices, which pushed gas prices higher.
