Air Force Depot Maintenance: Management Changes Would Improve Implementation of Reform Initiatives

The U.S. Air Force (USAF) is implementing three depot maintenance initiatives designed to better manage its depot maintenance programs, including the management of spare & repair parts. The USAF spends approximately $4 billion on its depot maintenance programs annually. This report assesses the progress of the USAFís depot maintenance reform initiatives. These initiatives are part of the DoD programs to improve the responsiveness & efficiency of its industrial operations. Makes recommendations to the Sec. of Defense to require the Sec. of the USAF to take actions that should improve the initiatives & better ensure their success.
