George Poindexter (ed). One-third of the adult homeless population are veterans, & they suffer with about the same relatively high rates of psychiatric & substance abuse disorders as the general homeless population. Over the past decade, the Veterans Administration established programs to addresses the needs of homeless veterans. This report: describes Veterans Administrationís homeless programs; determines what Veterans Administration knows about the effectiveness of its homeless programs; & examines promising approaches aimed at different groups of homeless veterans.
