Financial Profile of the 100 Largest Agricultural Cooperatives, 2000 & 2001
Barry Leonard (ed). Two reports combined into 1. In 2000 the total rev. of the largest 100 ag coops increased 7% to $70 bill., due to higher farm supply sales & service rev., & gross margins improved 7.5%. Net oper. margins soared 25%, to $933 mill. in 2000. Total net margins were down 14%; higher interest payments coupled with lower rev. from other non-oper. sources hurt the bottom line. Combined assets were valued at $29 bill., & nearly every cat. of assets increased in value. The 2001 report shows that the combined total rev. of the largest 100 ag coops jumped from $71 bill. in 2000 to $74 bill. in 2001, due mostly to higher rev. for dairy coops. This report considers oper. by type of produce: cotton, dairy, diversified, fruit & veg., farm supply, grain, poultry & livestock, rice, & sugar.
