Consumer Protection in the Global Marketplace: Looking Ahead

Businesses face concerns about the costs & unpredictability of the regulatory environment. In Dec. 1999 the FTC adopted guidelines, based on a public international workshop, that represent the views of the 29 countries of the OECD & offer a framework for governments building online consumer protections for the private sector developing self-regulatory regimes, & for consumers shopping online. The report also offers a number of recommendations to consumers in moving toward this goal.
