Description

The U.S. system of paying for healthcare leaves 46 million people without insurance -- vulnerable to devastating medical bills or untreated conditions. Calif. is home to 5 million of the uninsured. Their plight, together with the erosion of coverage for many others, has prompted an intense effort in the Calif. legislature in 2007 to find a solution to the healthcare crisis. A central issue in the debate is the level of participation by employers in providing employee health insurance. This study examines the current status of employer-provided health insurance in the state. In addition to comparing the state’s 17 major industry categories, the study also examines data on occupations, many of which are found across multiple industries. Charts & tables.
