Description
Examines the factors that contribute to diff. in men’s & women’s earnings. Two types of analyses were carried out. The authors performed a quantitative analysis to determine diff. in earnings by gender & what factors may account for these diff. The stat’l. model they developed used data from the Panel Study of Income Dynamics, a nationally representative longitudinal data set that includes a variety of demographic, family, & work-related characteristics for individuals over time. Of the many factors that account for diff. in earnings between men & women, their model indicated that work patterns are key. Yet even after accounting for key factors that affect earnings, the model could not explain all of the diff. in earnings between men & women. Charts & tables.
