No community can prepare fully, nor respond completely, to a large-scale bioterrorism (BT) event. Regionalization of some aspects of preparedness planning for BT may facilitate a timely & effective response. This report identified the key tasks of responders during a BT response & the resources required to perform them, & then evaluated the potential effectiveness of existing regional systems for the delivery of these resources & services. While regional systems exist for responding to BT, few have been evaluated. Efforts to coordinate them would benefit from eval. of regionalized info. mgmt systems; of strategies to rapidly dist. & dispense pharmaceuticals & other resources; & of plans to specify response roles, remun., & chain of command.
