Walter Leginski (ed)
On Nov. 18-19, 1993, the Homeless Programs Branch of the Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS) and the Dept. of Housing and Urban Devít. (HUD) co-sponsored this workshop in Wash., D.C. The Safe Havens program is a component of the HUD Supportive Housing Program funded under the McKinney Homeless Assistance Act. Safe Havens are intended to provide shelter and services to homeless persons who may not initially be willing or able to accept shelter or who cannot be sheltered due to problematic behavior. Representatives of similar programs were invited to share their experiences in designing and implementing their programs with staff from HUD responsible for developing and implementing the Safe Havens program.
