Describes a 3-year study conducted in collaboration with staff of several health systems in Illinois, Connecticut, Florida, & Children’s Hospital of Phila. This study involved 5 manual-based, expert-supported treatment conditions: Motivational Enhance. Therapy/Cognitive Behavioral Therapy; Family Support Network; Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach; & Multidimensional Family Therapy. Starting in spring 1998, adolescents with marijuana abuse or dependence problems who were appropriate for outpatient treatment were assigned to one of the treatment conditions. Clients were followed up through Spring 2000, & analyses were conducted during the project on baseline needs, costs, outcomes, & cost-effectiveness. Illustrations.
