Shortly after the inquest, an emissary of the Rajah of Rajitpoor arrives, claiming to have an appointment with the deceased to discuss a missing treasure stolen from India. Mrs. Cavanaugh, the captain’s housekeeper, offers to conduct a seance to contact the dead man & get him to reveal the secrets. But, the spiritualist dies -- with the word “murder” on her lips.
