Problem of the Spiteful Spiritualist: A Charles Dodgson/Arthur Conan Doyle Mystery
Roberta Rogow (au). In 1885, Charles Dodgson -- better known as Lewis Carroll, the author of “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” -- arrives in Portsmouth, UK, for a visit with his friend Dr. Arthur Conan Doyle. But a retired sea captain recently died of what everyone believed to be natural causes -- everyone except his physician, Dr. Doyle. Shortly after the inquest, an emissary of the Rajah of Rajitpoor arrives, claiming to have an appointment with the deceased to discuss a missing treasure stolen from India. Mrs. Cavanaugh, the captain’s housekeeper, offers to conduct a seance to contact the dead man & get him to reveal the secrets. But, the spiritualist dies -- with the word “murder” on her lips. Now Doyle & Dodgson must resolve these mysteries before another death.
