Clay Lancaster (au). The World’s Parliament of Religions (WPR) was a conference with speakers representing all religions. It was held in conjunction with the Columbian Exposition at Chicago in 1893. Participated in by 100s, attended by 1,000s, the material presented during the month-long meeting was recorded in 2 vol. of 1,600pp. Those in charge of the WPR sought to prove the superiority of their religion over others, which -- to their own satisfaction -- they did. The WPR was neither understood nor appreciated at the time & was buried in the archives. This study examines the significance of the WPR. Chapters: scope of the WPR; concepts of God; the Incarnation; immortality; sacred scriptures; formalized religion; faith & reason; righteousness & ethics; religion & war; & conclus.
