Jose Limon: An Unfinished Memoir

Born in Mexico in 1908, he came to the U.S. when he was seven. In 1928 he went to New York, where he attended his first modern dance concert & discovered his destiny. In the 1940s he formed an outstanding modern dance co. Although Limon himself died in 1972, his dances remain in the Limon Dance Coís. active repertory. This memoir was commissioned in the late 1960s. Left unfinished at the time of Limonís death, it stands on its own as an account of the childhood & coming of age of an unusually perceptive dance artist. Includes a complete list of Limonís works, richly informative notes, rare photos, & a detailed bibliography.
