This report reviewed the Department of Homeland Securityäó»s (DHSäó») information security program. It found that DHS has taken steps to improve its information security program. For ex., DHS expanded the ongoing authorization program to improve the security of its information systems through a revised risk management approach. Also, DHS developed and implemented the FY 2014 Information Security Performance Plan, and has taken actions to address the Presidentäó»s cybersecurity priorities, including the implementation of trusted internet connections, continuous monitoring of DHSäó» information systems, and strong authentication. However, among other things, Components are not consistently following DHSäó» policies and procedures to update the system inventory and plan of action and they continue to operate systems without the proper authority.
