In FY 2012, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) stated that Government spending for support service functions in the Department of Veterans Affairsäó» (VHAäó»s) Veterans Health Administration (VHA) quadrupled over the past decade. Past audits identified recurring systemic deficiencies in virtually all phases of the VHAäó»s contracting processes. VHAäó»s support service contract costs increased 60% for about 5,100 contracts in FY 2012 to just over $805 million for about 4,700 support service contracts in FY 2013.
