This report summarizes the Special Inspector General For Afghanistan Reconstructionäó»s (SIGARäó»s) oversight work and updates developments in the three major sectors of Afghanistanäó»s reconstruction effort from October 1, 2016 to December 31, 2016. It also includes an essay on Afghanistanäó»s need for continued procurement reform. During this reporting period, SIGAR issued 13 audits, inspections, alert letters, and other products assessing U.S. efforts to build the Afghan security forces, improve governance, facilitate economic and social development and combat the sale and production of narcotics. These reports identified a number of problems, including the eight issue areas of the reconstruction currently most at risk of waste, fraud and abuse. Figures. This is a print on demand report.
