Rebecca Gambler (au)
Millions of applicants for healthcare, licenses, and other benefits rely on the Department of Homeland Securityäó»s (DHSäó»s) Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) system to verify their immigration or naturalized or derived citizenship status at the request of over 1,000 federal, state, and local user agencies. Agencies use the information from SAVE to help determine an applicantäó»s eligibility for benefits, such as Medicaid, license-issuing programs, federal food and housing assistance, and educational programs. This report examines the extent to which DHSäó»s U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has (1) determined the accuracy of SAVE information; (2) instituted safeguards to protect privacy and provide the ability to correct erroneous information; and (3) monitored user agency compliance with SAVE program policies. Tables and figures. This is a print on demand report.
