Description

Performance audit of the Pennsylvania Dept. of Environmental Protection (DEP) and its ability to protect water quality in the wake of Pennsylvania劌製 shale gas boom. It covered the period Jan. 1, 2009, through Dec. 31, 2012. Audit objectives were focused on DEP劌製 monitoring of shale gas development activities as related to DEP劌製 inspection process, DEP劌製 role in respnding to complaints, and DEP劌製 monitoring of waste generated from shale gas development activity. The audit is critical of DEP劌製 performance in these areas, although it does not question the dedication and hard work of DEP劌製 employees to their mission of protecting the environment. The audit contains eight findings that detail shortcomings in DEP劌製 efforts related to its regulatory function over the shale gas industry. Figures. This is a print on demand report.
