Report to the Pennsylvania Attorney General on the Investigation of Gerald A. Sandusky
H. Geoffrey Moulton, Jr. (au)
On June 22, 2012, Gerald A. Sandusky, former Penn State assistant football coach, was convicted of sexually abusing 10 pre-teen and teenaged boys. The Centre County jury found Sandusky guilty of 45 of the 48 counts it had been asked to consider. On October 9, 2012, the trial court imposed an aggregate sentence of 30 to 60 yearsäó» imprisonment. Sanduskyäó»s conviction and sentence have been affirmed on appeal. This report, released by Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane, confirms that the investigation took too long because of crucial missteps and inexplicable delays in bringing a serial child molester to justice. The review found no direct evidence that political directives drove any of the decisions made throughout the course of the investigation. However, the facts and the timeline in the report raise serious concerns regarding decisions made at the very outset of the probe in 2009 and throughout 2010 and 2011, which ultimately delayed the investigation and the presentment of charges. Figures. This is a print on demand report.
