Childrenäó»s Health Insurance: Opportunities Exist for Improved Access to Affordable Insurance
Katherine M. Iritani (au)
The 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) sought to increase access to affordable health insurance, and major provisions, such as a tax credit to offset the cost of private insurance premiums, will become effective in 2014. This report estimated the extent to which (1) uninsured children would be eligible for Medicaid, the State Childrenäó»s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), or the premium tax credit under PPACA; and (2) children would experience a change in eligibility among Medicaid, CHIP, and the premium tax credit under PPACA because of income changes. The report also assessed steps taken by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) thus far to help states enroll children and related state challenges. Tables and figures. This is a print on demand report.
