The report concludes that Penn Stateńˇ╗s top leaders, incl. legendary football coach Joe Paterno, attempted to cover up the abuse for 14 years. Freeh stated that ńˇýThe most powerful men at Penn State failed to take any steps for 14 years to protect the children who Sandusky victimized.ńˇŁ He named Joe Paterno, former Penn State Pres. Graham Spanier, former Athletic Dir. Tim Curley and Gary Schultz, a univ. VP formerly in charge of the campus police, stating that they "never demonstrated, through actions or words, any concern for the safety and well-being of Sandusky's victims until after Sandusky's arrest."
