Report on Progress Toward Security and Stability in Afghanistan (April 2012): U.S. Plan for Sustaining the Afghanistan National Security Forces (ANSF)
Barry Leonard (ed)
This semiannual report, which covers the period from 10/1/11 to 3/31/12, shows that progress in Afghanistan has continued to expand. The International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) and its Afghan partners have continued to build on and expand this progress. The year 2011 saw the first year-over-year decline in nationwide enemy-initiated attacks in five years. The ANSF continue to develop into a force capable of assuming the lead for security responsibility throughout Afghanistan. The Taliban-led insurgency and its al Qaeda affiliates still operate with impunity from sanctuaries in Pakistan, and the Afghan GovšůĽt. still has limited capacity and continues to face widespread corruption. Charts and tables. This is a print on demand report.
