Onsite Solvent Recovery
Arun R. Gavaskar, Robert F. Olfenbuttel, Laura A. Hernon-Kenny, & Joda A. Jones. This study evaluated the product quality, waste reduction/pollution prevention, & economic aspects of three technologies for onsite solvent recovery. The technologies were: (1) atmospheric batch distillation, (2) vacuum heat pump distillation, & (3) low emission vapor degreasing. The atmospheric & vacuum distillation units were tested on spent methyl ethylkatone & spent methylene chloride, respectively. Samples of spent, recycled, & virgin solvents at two industrial sites were subjected to physical & chemical test to determine solvent quality. Charts & tables.
