Description
Henry Felder & Sarah L. Glavin. Several changes affecting the U.S. economy over the past 2 decades have heightened the importance of a skilled labor force. In this context, vocational education (VE) is an important tool for ensuring that entry-level workers are fully prepared for the labor market. The Carl D. Perkins Act of 1984 provides federal support for VE at both the high school (HS) & postsecondary levels. In 1990, Congress amended the Perkins Act. This report compares student participation & program features in HS VE programs in school year 1993-94 with 1990-91.
