Survey of Minority-Owned Business Enterprises: Black
Ewen Wilson & Ruth A. Runyan. Provides basic economic data on businesses owned by Blacks. This survey is based on the entire firm rather than on establishments of a firm. The published data covers: number of firms, gross receipts, number of paid employees, & annual payroll. The data are presented by geographic area, industry, size of firm, & legal form of organization of firm. Results: black-owned firms increased 46% from 424,165 in 1987 to 620,912 in 1992. Black-owned firms with paid employees accounted for 10% of the total number of firms; 342 had 100 or more employees. Charts & tables.
