Identifying Talent Through Technology: Automated Hiring Systems in Federal Agencies
Neil A. G. McPhie (ed). The placement of “Strategic Human Capital Management” as the first of 5 Governmentwide initiatives in the Pres. Mgmt. Agenda clearly acknowledges the critical importance of a capable, trained, & motivated Fed. workforce. Fed. agencies are looking to information technology to help them recruit & select highly qualified employees & are making increasing use of automated hiring systems (AHS) to announce jobs, receive applications, & identify promising candidates. Consequently, AHS change how agencies assess job applicants. Because this assessment has significant implications for the quality of the Fed. workforce, the U.S. Merit Systems Protection Board conducted this study of how Fed. agencies are using these systems.
