Description
Barry Leonard (ed). FEMA’s mission is to reduce loss of life & property & protect our nation’s built environment from a full range of hazards. To support that mission, FEMA has created a risk-based mgmt. tool called Hazards U.S. (HAZUS), as a nationwide, standardized computer-based tool to assist in planning for & estimating costs due to earthquakes. This study was designed to provide external, or “market pull,” & internal, or “market push,” analysis to better understand current & potential HAZUS users & their requirements & to provide a methodology & planning tool for developing training & projections for tech. support. This study considers both existing (earthquake) & evolving (wind & flood) HAZUS capabilities for estimating losses from disasters.
