Report of the Investigation into the 1997 Directed Report & Related Matters Concerning the Columbine High School Shootings in April 1999
Ken Salazar (au). On Oct. 29, 2003, Jefferson County Sheriff (JCS) Ted Mink asked CO Attorney General Ken Salazar to investigate the origin & history of a document concerning the April 1999 shootings at Columbine High School. The document is a Sheriff’s office 1997 “directed report” concerning Eric Harris, one of the Columbine murderers. This report had just been discovered, tucked into a binder notebook. The 1997 directed report was the earliest known law enforce. ref. to Eric Harris in the JCS’s Dept. This investigation consists primarily of interviews of involved parties & a review of records in the JCS’s Dept. Forensic analysis of handwriting was also undertaken to determine the identity of the “concerned citizen” described in the report.
