Terrorists or hostile foreign states could launch computer-based attacks on critical systems to severely damage or disrupt national defense or other critical operations. This report identifies the Fed. org. that have national roles for critical infrastructures protection (CIP) from computer-based attacks & to determine their relationships. The report recommends that when developing the strategy to guide Fed. CIP efforts, senior executive branch officials ensure that, among other things, it includes all relevant sectors, defines the key Fed. agencies’ roles & responsibilities associated with each sector, & defines the relationships among the key CIP org.
