BioTrol Soil Washing System for Treatment of a Wood Preserving Site: Applications Analysis Report
E. Timothy Oppelt (ed.). This report discusses a project to demonstrate BioTrolís sequence of three processes for treatment of contaminated soil. It consists of: (1) soil washing to wash & segregate coarse, relatively uncontaminated soil from more heavily contaminated fines; (2) biodegradation of the organic contamination on the soil fines in a slurry bioreactor; & (3) fixed-film, amended biological treatment of process water recycled in the soil washing operation. The study was carried out at the MacGillis & Gibbs Co. site in New Brighton, MN, where wood preserving operations have been carried out over several decades using the traditional wood preserving chemicals. Extensive charts & tables.
