To address the growing problem of crimes that involve computers or electronic media, the National Institute of Justice (NIJ), in conjunction with the National Cybercrime Training Partnership -- a high-technology training consortium led by the Computer Crime & Intellectual Property Section of the U.S. Dept. of Justice -- initiated a national study in fall 1998 to assess the needs of State & local law enforcement agencies to combat electronic crime & cyber-terrorism.
