Managing for Results: Federal Managersí Views on Key Management Issues Vary Widely Across Agencies
David M. Walker. During the past decade, Congress has encouraged a focus on results & improved Fed. mgmt. by enacting a results-oriented statutory framework that calls for performance-based mgmt. This requires organizational cultures to improve decisionmaking, maximize performance, & assure accountability. This report provides results from the year 2000 survey of Fed. managers for each of the 28 agencies included in the survey for selected items regarding results-oriented agency climate, measurement of program performance, & use of performance information to make decisions that looking at high-performing organizations has found to be relevant to the success of those organizations.
