Description
Joseph H. Alexander. This history, one in a series devoted to U.S. Marines in the Korean War era, is published for the education & training of Marines by the Marines History & Museums Div. It begins late on the afternoon of 24 Sept. 1950, when Capt. Robert H. Barrow’s Company A, 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, secured the military crest of Hill 79 in the southwest corner of Seoul, the enemy-occupied capital of the Republic of South Korea. Seoul represented the largest objective the Marines had ever assailed. The report describes in detail the military units and their actions to retake Seoul, including Marine air support. It is illustrated with numerous black-&-white photographs, maps, drawings, & charts.
