Description
Paul L. Jones (au). Compares the composition of active duty troops deployed to Operations Desert Shield & Desert Storm (ODS&DS) with that of active duty military personnel for each service by race or Hispanic origin, gender, combat/non-combat positions, & rank. Contains gender comparisons of active duty military personnel with the general U.S. population. In brief, the proportion of black personnel in the active duty force deployed to ODS&DS was 3% points higher than their proportion in the total active duty force, & the proportion of white personnel deployed was 4% points lower. The deployed active duty force also contained a higher proportion of men than the active duty force as a whole. Charts & tables.
