Description
In Feb. 2009, Pres. Obama announced that all U.S. combat operations would cease in Iraq by the end of Aug. 2010. This report estimated the future costs under the Admin.’s plan for conducting mil. oper. in Iraq and for the repair and replacement of equipment used or lost in Iraq. Also, the report examined three options under which forces would be withdrawn sooner than under the Admin.’s plan and starting from two different dates. To reflect the possibility that conditions might delay the planned withdrawal, the report also analyzed a fourth option, which would provide for a slower schedule for withdrawing military personnel than that planned by the Admin. The report compares the costs under the four options with those of the Admin.’s plan. Illus.
