Petraeus, the Commander, U.S. Central Command into the allegations that the use of U.S. air power caused civilian casualties in the vicinity of Gerani Village, Bala Balouk District, Farah Province, Afghanistan, on 4 May 2009. Army Brig. Gen. Raymond Thomas led the team that conducted the review. This report acknowledges that 26 civilians, and perhaps a larger number, were killed in this engagement. The report includes recommendations to help prevent civilian deaths in future military operations. The full report remains classified. Maps.
