This document will inform & liven the public & legislative debate about proposals to place labels on genetically altered food. For over a decade we & our children have been fed increasing amounts of food that is genetically altered, & fed unsubstantiated promises that what we donít know wonít hurt us. Now we find genetically modified products all around us in Fritos, granola bars, infant formula, & corn flakes. This report was issued in conjunction with a public hearings held by the CA legislature on the right-to-know & labeling of genetically engineered food. In addition to labeling for consumers, it is especially important that parents of children have the right-to-know whether children are fed genetically engineered food & if there is an alternative.
