Revision of the Ostracod Genus Kirkbya and Subgenus Amphissites: Publications of the Wagner Free Institute of Science, Volume I
Robert Roth (au)
In working with the sediments of Oklahoma the author has noticed that the various species of the ostracod genus, “Kirkbya,” and the subgenus, “Amphissites,” are abundant, and in most cases are good horizon markers. But a very careful study of all the available literature has shown much confusion in both the generic and the species descriptions of these two groups. This report provides a brief review of most of the available literature (as of 1929) dealing with “Kirkbya” and “Amphissites”. Seven types of “Kirkbya” are figured and described and placed in their probable position in the scale of evolution. The same is done with “Amphissites,” of which nine species are figured and described. Black and white illustrations.
