Presents info. from the 2008 Nat. Survey on Drug Use and Health; this survey was formerly called the Nat. Household Survey on Drug Abuse. This survey is the primary source of info. on the use of illicit drugs, alcohol, and tobacco products by the civilian, non-institutionalized population of the U.S. aged 12 years old or older. The survey interviews approx. 67,500 persons each year. This initial report on the 2008 data presents nat. estimates of rates of use, numbers of users, and other measures related to illicit drugs, alcohol, and tobacco products. Measures related to mental health problems also are included. The report focuses on trends between 2007 and 2008 and from 2002 to 2008, as well as differences across population subgroups in 2008.
