Report of a workshop by the NIST. The meeting was attended by people from computer, flat panel display, and graphics controller co. Rep. from the civilian and military sides of the gov’t. were also present. The objectives of this workshop were: to determine the need for a standard or a series of standards for the computer interface to flat panel displays (FPDs); to identify what types of standards are needed; to identify approaches for developing FPD interface standards; and to obtain a consensus on a coordinated plan for standards development. The workshop attendees agreed that a standard FPD for interface for integrated devices is needed, and that efforts should be made to encourage all of the FPD manufacturers to participate in these standards activities.
