A color poster of the painting The Alchemist's Experiment Takes Fire, by Dutch painter Hendrick Heerschop (1620-1690), from CHF's Eddleman and Fisher Collections.In the foreground, at left, an explosion shows smoke, fire, and flying glass shards. The alchemist’s chair has only one leg on the floor as he moves toward an open book showing the artist’s name. The floor has bellows, mortar and pestle, and a plate with a missing piece from its lip. Through an arched doorway, a seated woman wipes her baby’s bottom; a second child stands next to her.
