Operations of the Geometric and Military Compass
Galileo Galilei (au); Stillman Drake (tr) (in)
Soon after Galileo was appointed to the chair of mathematics at the University of Padua in 1592, he began to give private instruction in certain subjects not covered by the official curriculum. Contents of this vol.: Introduction; Selected Historical Bibliography on the Sector; Translation of Galileo Galilei, “Operations of the Geometric and Military Compass” (Padua, 1606); and Notes. Pub. for the Burndy Library by the Dibner Library of the History of Science and Technology and the Smithsonian Institution Press. Illustrations.
