Mary Cassatt: Prints: Exhibition Catalogue
Kathleen Adler (au); Mary Cassatt (il); Charles Saumarez Smith (fr); Andrew Gould (fr)
Catalogue of an exhibition held at the National Gallery in London in 2006 that offered a rare opportunity to view a collection of prints born out of Mary Cassattís collaboration with Degas and Pisarro. After her initial collaboration with Degas, Cassatt became exceptionally skilled in mastering the print medium. Her talent extended to a variety of media, etching, drypoint and aquatint techniques that display considerable boldness and technical innovation. The suite of 19 prints displayed in full-color in this publication is particularly striking, skillful and captivating. Cassattís work typifies the range and diversity of practice of the American artists working in Paris during the second half of the 19th century. Glossary of technical terms. Bibliography.
