In Mar. 2005, two well-publicized & nearly simultaneous incidents involving the suspicion of anthrax took place in the Wash., DC, area. They occurred at DoD mail facilities at the Pentagon & at a commercial office complex (Skyline Complex). While these incidents were false alarms, DoD & other agencies responded. The USPS suspended oper. at 2 of its facilities & 1,000+ DoD & USPS employees were given antibiotics as a precaution against their possible exposure to anthrax.
