Library Co. of Phila.
Journal of the Proceedings of Congress held at Philadelphia September 5, 1774: A Facsimile of the Official Edition Printed in 1774
Edwin Wolf 2nd (in)
On Wed., Aug. 31, 1774, the dir. of the Library Company of Phila. (LCP) came together for their monthly meeting. Among other issues they discussed was that 12 of the British colonies in North America had agreed to send delegates to a congress in Phila. to seek some way to change or oppose the parliamentary acts which they were finding intolerable. They were to convene the first week of September. The directors of the LCP were sure that the delegates would need reference works on civil & natural law, the British constitution & parliament, government in theory & in practice & history ancient & modern. Such books the LCP owned in good measure. This facsimile Journal contains the full report of the actions of the Continental Congress in 1774.
