Invasive Plants of Alaska
Matt Carlson (ed)
This guide was produced in coop. with the Alaska Natural Heritage Program. Some of the invasive non-native plants described have been in Alaska for many years; some are common, others are rare & just now spreading, & still others have not yet shown up there but are likely to arrive soon. The hope is that as people use this guide, they will help control these species so as to retain the intact ecosystems that make Alaska unique. Detailed descriptions of the plants are used instead of regional botanical keys. Plants are organized by plant family &, within each family, alphabetically by scientific name since there are often numerous common names. Each plant is illus. with a color photograph & a map showing where in Alaska it has been found.
