Highlights of Women’s Earnings in 2005
Barry Leonard (ed)
Presents earnings data from the Current Pop. Survey (CPS), a nat. monthly survey of 60,000 households conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau. The comparisons of earnings in this report are on a broad level & do not control for many factors that can be significant in explaining earnings differences. Also provides a description of the source of the data & an explanation of the concepts & definitions used. In 2005, median weekly earnings were highest for women & men aged 45-64. The difference between women’s & men’s earnings was much larger among middle-aged & older workers than among younger workers. However, between 1979 & 2005, the earnings gap between women & men narrowed for most major age groups. Tables.
